I was your typical active child. My father had three girls and no boys. I started sports in the 2nd grade and continued throughout high school. I played basketball, ran track, softball, cheered and performed modern dance. After college and into my early 30’s, I did what everyone did; I joined a gym to get a good sweat and socialize. It was nothing like the intensity of a Crossfit wod.

I have always been active. I love to ski, hike, fish and bike. It wasn’t until my first pregnancy that I got a taste of a sedentary lifestyle. I was put on bed rest at 20 weeks pregnant. For months I could only get up to shower and use the restroom. With my second child, I was unable to pick up anything over 10lbs, including my 18 month old son. To say I was out of shape is an understatement. All of my strength and muscle was gone. When my husband told me he signed us up for Crossfit, I panicked. I had heard about it on the island, but my initial reaction was, “I need to workout before I can go!”. I hadn’t been to a gym in 2 years! My trial class before elements was a disaster. I didn’t know what a kettlebell was let alone how to use one. However, the coaches were patient and made me feel at home. Needless to say, I fell in love with Crossfit and what it represents…train for the unknowable!

After 2 ½ years as a member, I got my Level 1 training in Crossfit. Shortly after, I had the opportunity to not only be a member of RCFSTT, but the owner as well. Crossfit is a constant in my life. My husband is an active member and my children participate in Crossfit Kids. I am extremely passionate about how Crossfit can and has changed the lives of so many (including my own). I look forward to seeing the members, who I truly consider family, walk through our doors every day. I love this box, the coaches, the workouts and the community. We cheer one another on while pushing ourselves to the limit!

Rachel Miller (Manager/Coach/CrossFit Kids Coach)

I remember my passion for fitness starting as young as 14 years old; when I walked into a Gold’s Gym for the first time. Most of my adult fitness life was spent in traditional style gyms, where I would workout anywhere up to 3 hours, 6 days a week. During this time, I only made a few gym friends, spent most of my time with my headphones on; isolated and quite frankly bored. I had my routine, my schedule, my independent workouts. Not only was I bored, I wasn’t seeing great results.

Then back in August 2012, after listening to my island friends go on and on about RCFSTT, I decided to give it a try. Once I found CrossFit, I knew I had found not only my passion but my fitness home and a second family. Every WOD leaves me wanting more, knowing I can do more and having a community standing behind me the whole way.

After many years of managing several million dollar a year restaurants, being a Sales Representative and then living the “Cocktail” dream in these wonderful islands, I decided to take my passion for CrossFit to the next level. While working as an intern opening a new CrossFit box in Florida, I received my CF-L1 in December 2013. In February 2014; with great pleasure I came back to where it all started and joined my “home box” as not only a member but a Coach and Manager. I has blossomed as a coach; learning from some of the best CrossFit Coaches in the business and continues to educate myself though Certification Course and on-line research.

Bryan McCoy (Coach)

My entire childhood was spent playing sports baseball, basketball, football, volleyball, and soccer. My competitive edge has always been in the picture. My passion as a young adult was volleyball. I played for the USVI national team where we travelled to different countries to compete in chances to qualify for the Olympics. On that level fitness is a huge part. I would train for hours upon hours but couldn’t seem to make it to the next level. I needed something new and challenging to help push me past that potential and in 2012 I stumbled upon Crossfit. Since joining, it has not only made me significantly stronger but my cardio has gone through the roof. I quickly jumped to the top and got a chance to competitively compete in Crossfit in 2013. I have had some setbacks due to pre-existing injuries that I have had to overcome. My ACL reconstruction in my left knee 1 1/2 years after starting Crossfit. The gym has helped me gained knowledge what is safe movements that I can handle. Most importantly I have not pushed my body to limits it is not ready for after the surgery. I have fought back through the pain and constant struggle not to push to hard and listen to my body about what is sore and what is painful. It has taken me about two years to start to get back to my strength and drive that I had before competing in regionals in Ecuador back in 2013. This was probably one of the most memorable experiences of my Crossfit career to date. “Won’t be the last!” I have had some incredible trainers over the years. Without being pushed outside of that comfort zone I probably would have never known my true potential. In my other job I train my fellow employees in a couple different aspects of the job and I love to see the growth and progress that one can make with the proper guidance and technique. My love for training has always been there and I can’t wait to see how much I can learn and teach members over the years to come. I love the constant battle with members and coaches always trying to better their scores, lifts, overall fitness, and health.

Darcy Dau  (Coach)

In life and training alike we can not progress until we are willing to make that first step forward; flirting with and surpassing our comfort zone. I moved to St. Thomas from the MidWest for that percise reason; in aspiration to stretch and redefine my limits.

I had recently graduated from The University of Minnesota, Twin Cities earning a degree in Nutrion and Dietetics and for the past six years I have worked as a nutrition councilor, personal trainer and coach. I view the members at Reebok CrossFit St. Thomas as teammates and want to see everyone succeed. I love nothing more than watching others meet and exceed their goals and expectations: doing what they want to thought was impossible.

Keri Landry (CrossFit Kids Coach/Coach)

I have always been passionate about helping and watching people learn and grow. At 16 I started coaching children at West Lynn Pop Warner. I continued to coach through college and got involved with Salem State Cheerleading program and an all star team called East Elite (now ECE). I stumbled upon Crossfit upon recommendations of friends. It was inspiring to me because it didn’t matter what level you were at, everyone did the same workout but to their own abilities. All the mean while I started coaching kids again for a new cheerleading league NECYL Lynn Charger. I remembered how much I enjoyed coaching so I chose to pursue this more. I took my Level 1 and also Crossfit Kids Course excited to start something new and chase after passions. I first came to St. Thomas to help move RCFSTT from its garage home to its current location. A year later I moved down and made it a home of my own and the members have become both family and teammates. I participated as one of the three ladies for the 2014 team with Jess Plante and Jessie Batten.

Gilly Anne Smith (Coach)

Hometown girl from Wisconsin, that followed her passion to the City of Angels. Studied Merchandise Marketing at FIDM and graduated with a BA in Business Management. In 2007 she was introduced to CrossFit in LA, and immediately fell in the love with the intensity, movements and community of CrossFit. She was able to be apart of the beginning stages of CrossFit Hollywood in 2008.

After college, she moved to Austin on a whim and found herself working at Saks Fifth Ave. However, this career path wasn’t fulfilling her needs to help others. After being introduced to Carey Kepler of CrossFit Central, she started an internship, worked the front desk and became the heads kids coach. After two years of learning from one of the best gyms in the business, she knew it was time to head back to the ocean. Gilly took a lead role with Orange Coast CrossFit in Newport Beach. During her time there she started a company called Femme Royale. (

Femme Royale is a women’s movement. Which empowers women to get out of their comfort zones and overcome their fears through women’s fitness competitions. She also hosts workshops, sells women’s apparels and gives back to an orphanage in Uganda called Bill’s Tribe. (

In 2013, Gilly then opened her own gym called CrossFit Second Chance in Costa Mesa, California. But as Femme Royale grew, she knew its was time to take a huge leap of faith and pursue her passion as a women’s entrepreneur. Since then Gilly has hosted over 30 Femme Royale events across the nation. After she left California, she found herself in the Caribbean islands on a spontaneous vacation. Fast forward a year and she now calls St. Thomas home.
